5 Fun Party Games For Direct Sales

5 Fun Party Games For Direct Sales That Will Boost Your Business

If you are in direct sales, the money is all in the parties you do. You want your hostess and her guests to have as much fun as possible, but at the same time, you need to educate them on and interest them in your products. You may also want to plant the idea of one of them becoming a consultant. Party games can accomplish all of this while providing entertainment to the guests. Here are a few of our favorite games. Give them a try and watch your business grow.

1) Bingo

This is an easy all-time favorite and an easy way to introduce a wide variety of products to the group.

Create some bingo cards by drawing a 4 by 4 box grid on a piece of paper. Write “Free” on the center box. Then write the names of your products on the remaining boxes in random order on each of the bingo cards and make yourself a set of cards with just one of the products on each card. You will use this set of cards to draw the bingo “numbers”. You may want to have a sample of each of the products with you and show it and talk about it when the product is drawn during the bingo game. As in ordinary bingo, the first person who has a row of items checked off wins a prize.

2) Get To Know Each Other Game

This game makes for a nice icebreaker, especially if most of the guests don’t know each other. It can also provide you some clues about who may be a potential prospect.

Pass around a bag of M&Ms. Tell everyone to take as many as they would like. Quickly ask them to count the number of candies in their hand. Each person then takes a turn standing up and telling as many things about themselves and their family as they have M&M’s. Of course no one is allowed to eat their M&Ms until they have had their turn.

3) How Well Do You Know Your Hostess?

Give a piece of paper to each of your guests and have them number it from 1 to 10. Then ask them to answer the following questions.

1) What is your hostess’s favorite color?
2) If she could have any vehicle, what would it be?
3) How many kids does she have?
4) What is her favorite hobby?
5) Who is her favorite actor?
6) What is her favorite animal?
7) What is her favorite TV show?
8) What is her favorite food?
9) What is her favorite scent or smell?
10) If you were in need of something, would your hostess give it to you if she can?

After everyone writes down their answers (including the hostess), read the questions again and have the hostess tell everyone her answers. The other guests mark on their papers if they got it right or wrong. The person with the most write answers wins a small prize or discount on their purchase.

You can change and rearrange any of the questions, but leave the last one in place. It provides a nice lead- in to mention that the hostess will get free product if they purchase a certain amount, and/or book their own parties.

4) Left Right Game

This game is a great way to start a party, right before you go into your presentation. Pass out one or two small gifts. Tell your guests that you will read them a story and that they should pass the gift to the person to the right when they hear the word “right” and to the left when you mention “left. The person holding the gift at the end of the story gets to keep it.

Here is the story:

I left my house and was on my way to (insert hostess’s name) house. But I soon discovered that I had left my directions at home, right by the phone! Well, I knew right away that I needed to have the right directions to (insert hostess’s name) house, so I turned left and I turned left and I turned right and made my way back to my house for the right directions. Sure enough, there they were, right where I had left them, right next to the phone.

Finally, I was on the right track. I arrived right on time and set up my (insert your company name) presentation right over here. You all arrived and sat down. I’m going to get right down to work and tell you about (name of company). I hope nothing will be left out. In a moment I’ll show you our new line of (insert your type of products) products. If you left home with the intention of shopping for gifts tonight, you’ll find we have the right gift for everyone. Think about upcoming birthdays and holidays, we don’t want anyone left out. I’d be happy to help you find the right gift for that special someone.

(Insert name of company) has a (insert number of days) –day return policy. When your merchandise comes in please check it right away. If something is not right please call me right away and you can be sure I will take care of it right away. You don’t want to be left with something you are not 100% satisfied with, right? If you’d like to be a hostess and earn free and discounted merchandise, this is the right time for you to explore hosting a party.

I’m enjoying being here with all of you tonight and I hope you are having fun, too. I know you can’t wait to see if we have that special item you have been looking for, so without further delay I will get right to the point of this party, which is showing you our great products! So, there is really nothing left for me to do except congratulate the winner, right?

5) Ask Me About My Job

This game is a great way to get your guests thinking about joining your company.
Get or make up some tickets.

Tell your guests that for the next 3 minutes you are going to play “ Ask Me About My Job”. The first person to come up with a question will get 3 tickets, the second person will get 2 and every question after that earns one ticket.

You will hear questions like “How long have you been doing this?” and “How many hours a week do you work?” Answer them as positively as possible. Good answers to the questions above would be “I’ve been doing this for 12 months and I’ve never had so much fun” and “ I only work evenings and weekends because I want to be home with my kids”.

After the three minutes are up, tell you guests to hang on to their tickets. You will have another short Q&A session towards the end of the party (your guests will have thought of some additional questions by then). After that have a drawing for a small prize.

This game is a great opportunity for you to teach your guests about your business and they may see how could benefit them.

Give a few of these games a try and put your own spin on them. All of these can easily be adapted and modified to work for you and the particular direct sales company that you represent. Go out there and have fun!

Writing Wahms

Working at home as a writer is one of the largest work at home categories. Being a freelance writer has traditionally been a work at home job, and now that working at home is becoming more popular, there have been more writers in the industry. If you like to write and have a good grasp of the English language, you will never be at a loss for the work at home writing jobs.

Starting your career as a work at home writer is as easy as doing some Internet research and applying for a job. There are many ways to break into the writing field, even if you have no previous experience. Online opportunities abound, and there are still many writers who stay exclusively in the print market.

While many writers dream of one day writing the great American novel, most writers are realistic in knowing that they are going to have to do some other types of writing to get paid on a consistent basis. Writing for pay is mostly, if not exclusively, done in the non-fiction genre. While occasionally you will find contests for fiction writing or for poetry, these opportunities are few and far between when compared to the non-fiction opportunities.

Writing from home as a Wahm requires that you have a reliable Internet connection, good written communication skills and the ability to be a self-starter. As a writer, you will be in charge of your time and your projects. There will always be deadlines to meet and new writing opportunities to try. You will be responsible for balancing your writing with the rest of your life. You must also have the ability to research a wide variety of topics. As you accept assignments, you’ll be challenged to learn about and write about topics that you may have little experience in.

Freelance writing from home can break down into three specific areas: writing for print, writing for the web and blogging. Although blogging is technically writing for the web, there are many distinctions that make it different from other web writing opportunities.

Writing for print is what people generally think of when they hear the term “freelance writer.” Wahm writers who write for the print markets need to first build a reputation as reliable and eloquent writer. If you’ve never written for the print markets before, start with smaller, local publications and then work from there. You’ll need to find a list of publications that are accepting “queries.” Queries are a combination of a letter of introduction and a pitch for a story idea. Most writers rely on the Writer’s Market reference guide for lists of publications. The Writer’s Market has comprehensive information on a variety of newsletters, magazines and other publications that are taking queries. Start with topics that you know the most about and try writing a few queries to get yourself going in the print market.

The only drawback to writing for print is that the period between when you write and when you get paid can be months long. For many Wahms, this is just not feasible. Writing for the web, however, can meet their income needs and still allow them to write from home. There are many categories of writing for the web. You can be a ghostwriter for e-books or other Internet media. Many people need copywriters to provide content for their sales letters and websites. You can also offer your services to webmasters who need fresh content for their blog or newsletter. The opportunities are endless.

Blogging is yet another way to make money as a writing wahm. Blogs are an ever-growing form of Internet media. Blog writers generally provide their own content. You can make money as a wahm by starting your own blog and posting to it daily. If you love to write, you can start several blogs at once and multiply your earnings. Once you become an experienced blogger, you can apply for blogging jobs and post for other people.

To be effective in training your consultants to recruit, both you and your team must have all of the following:

  • Belief in the Opportunity: Good recruiters believe that their opportunity is the best thing since sliced bread!
  • Consistent Show schedule: Without a solid show schedule, it is impossible to find enough people to share with. In addition, consultants who are worried about bookings can’t master recruiting.
  • Love doing shows and having fun: If you make it look too difficult, no one will be interested. No one wants more work!
  • A Focus on Others: Sales is service. A focus on the needs of others is essential. If you NEED to recruit because YOU NEED more income, it won’t work. Focus on the guest’s needs.
  • The Desire to Learn: Recruiting is a skill that needs to be studied.Without all 5 of those traits in place, it will be difficult to be successful at recruiting. Many consultants can recruit, yet not consistently. Usually that means that one or more of the above list is missing.

The Best Direct Selling Business Opportunity

What Direct Sales Business Is Best?

The direct sales opportunity is a perfect way to weather tough economic times. The ability to create an additional stream of income into your home without getting a job that takes you away from your home makes direct selling an opportunity that many single parents or even two-parent homes are taking advantage of. Whether you already have a job and just need a bit more money to make ends meet, or you would like to supplement your partner’s income and still be a stay-at-home Mom, direct sales will do it for you.

Types of Direct Selling Opportunities

Direct selling has several different business models.  Most direct selling opportunities fall into several different compensation structures and business models. The most common are:

Door To Door: Although this business style is a bit old-fashioned, there are still many direct selling companies doing it. Frequently the style of door-to-door visits have changed from totally cold-calling to by appointment and referrals from past appointments. A business opportunity that uses door-to-door sales must be recreated every week or month. In order to maintain success you are expected and will need to conduct a certain amount of door appointments each period. There is no residual income and rarely involves repeat customers.

Party Plan: Companies that use the party plan business model rely on the referral system for generating business. The distributor usually asks their friends and family to host a party in their home, then invites their friends over. The distributor conducts a demonstration and hopefully schedules future shows with the guests to perpetuate his/her business. Examples are Pampered Chef, Tasteful Treasures, Wildtree Herbs.

Campaign-Based Direct Selling:  The distributors of these companies do not perform home parties. They distribute catalogs that are updated as often as monthly or even twice monthly. The campaign distributor markets their business everywhere they go through word of mouth and brand recognition. They rely heavily on building a client base of regular customers who are committed to the product line so each distributor must build a loyal client base of product users. Examples: Arbonne and the most widely recognized direct-selling company worldwide, Avon.

MLM aka Multi-Level Marketing: MLM companies rely very heavily on recruiting new people into the organization. It is possible to create an income just selling products, but the tiered pay structure rewards the recruiting activities far more generously than product sales. Distributors are usually required to place a minimum product order or subscribe to the services on an ongoing basis in order to receive their commission.  They market their business by networking everywhere they go. MLM companies are frequently, but not always, distributors of health care items, vitamins, juices and diet items. Examples: Eniva, Freelife, and Tahitian Noni.

Service-Based Direct Sales: These business opportunities are network marketing companies that sell a service or subscription to services. It is sort of like joining a private club. You cannot use the product or service unless you are a member. Frequently you become a distributor automatically when you join to be a product user. You then have the choice to market the business or not. Examples: Prepaid Legal and Send Out Cards, Primerica.

Other Work At Home Opportunities

There are thousands of work at home opportunities that you should look into if considering getting involved in direct selling. With the new direct selling industry opportunities on the internet, the world of direct sales has expanded considerably in the past 15 years.

Most direct selling companies do increase your income substantially for your recruiting efforts with various levels of compensation. It is wise to take advantage of the recruiting compensation and boost your income by sharing the business opportunity. A motivated distributor will be able to create an income equivalent to a full-time job, and the possibility of earning a substantial income does exist.

The important thing to remember when choosing a direct sales company is to pick one that has a product line you can be passionate about and that matches your personality. Do not fall for any get rich schemes. Anyone can be successful in direct sales, provided you treat your business with the professionalism it deserves and not like a hobby.

When you do the necessary research you WILL achieve your goals!
